Vic Wortmann, Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer

Vic Wortmann, Jr. serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of VRH Construction, located in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of the University of Vermont, Vic. received a B.S. in Engineering Management. Upon graduation in 1986, he joined VRH and began his career in the aviation construction industry as a Project Manager and became Vice President of the company nine years later. After a 22-year tenure at VRH, Vic became President & Chief Executive Officer in 2002, the position he currently holds.

Under his leadership, he repositioned the firm as an Aviation Construction Specialist to focus on the Aviation Construction sector, which has been its core business for 61 years. He expanded the operations territory beyond the NY/NJ Metro area to include Philadelphia and the North East Regional Airport Markets. He identified, initiated, and implemented two new divisions: Jetworks and RetailBuild, and responding to industry direction, introduced a new service at the firm, DesignBuild. He is responsible for developing the company’s strategic vision, implementing new initiatives and developing a culture of employee engagement with an emphasis on providing clients with a satisfactory experience from project inception through closeout.

Jeff Konen
Chief Operating Officer

Jeff Konen serves as Chief Operating Officer for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A 1984 graduate of Merrimack College, Jeff received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In 1986, he began his career as a Field Engineer for Amerada Hess Corporation and went on to work at Avis Rent A Car System as a Project Manager and Senior Project Manager from 1986 to 1992. In 1995, Jeff joined VRH as a Project Manager and rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for overseeing VRH’s day-to-day construction activities, including the supervision of all field operations, the company’s Technical Services Department, VRH Project Management Teams, Project Executives, Senior Project Managers, the Vice President of Safety & Security, and the Chief Estimator.

Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, Philadelphia International, Westchester County, and New York Stewart International airports.

Frank Hurley, CCIFP
Chief Financial Officer

Frank Hurley serves as Chief Financial Officer for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Frank received a B.S. in Accounting, went on to receive his Executive Masters of Business Administration from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey. Upon graduation, Frank began his career as an Audit Senior at Deloitte & Touche, where he worked from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, Frank worked as a Controller for W.V. Communications, where he worked for the next five years until joining Damon G. Douglas Co. as an Assistant Controller, rising to the position of Treasurer/Controller and later Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer.

In 2003, Frank Joined VRH as Chief Financial Officer, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for the oversight of the controller and accounting operations, and development of new policies and procedures to ensure increased financial efficiencies. He is also engaged in the review and maintenance of insurance policies, health insurance, 401(k) profit sharing and investment programs, audits, and financial statement preparations. He manages all banking and bonding functions and relationships, and oversees the company’s HR department.

Under his leadership, his construction administration oversight has enabled VRH to establish a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, Philadelphia International, Westchester County, and New York Stewart International airports.

Frank has assisted Project Executives in performing all necessary financial administrative work to the satisfaction of the governing authority, including oversight for completion of the final closeout of all vendor and subcontractor contracts.

James “Jim” Silvester, Assoc. DBIA
Director of Marketing and DesignBuild Services

Jim Silvester, Assoc. DBIA serves as the Director of Marketing and DesignBuild Services for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. As the Director of Marketing for VRH Construction since 2010, Jim Silvester is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies, public relations activities, and business development for the firm. In 2018, Jim also became Director of DesignBuild Services, developing the firm’s design-build delivery process.

Over the course of his career, Jim has been engaged in the design and construction of more than 2 million square feet and $800 million in completed projects. Among them were the development of American Airlines’ Terminal 8 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, a concession-development program for Delta Airlines’ Terminals 2 and 3 at JFK and the Terminal D concourse renovation for Delta at LaGuardia Airport.

Before joining VRH, as a Principal and President of his own interior-design firms — Kurland Silvester Design, Inc. and Silvester+Tafuro, Inc. — and as Principal, Senior Vice President of TransSystems Corp., Jim designed and managed the construction of lounge facilities, reservation centers, concessions, terminal renovations and expansions, and cargo and distribution facilities. His airline clients included American, British Airways, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, US Airways, and Virgin Atlantic.

In his current role as Director of Marketing, in addition to maintaining consistency in VRH’s brand image and strategy, Jim directs the business-development efforts of the firms’ Project Executives and Division Directors. As Director of VRHDesignBuild, Jim is applying his 35+ years of in-depth design and construction experiences to developing and implementing this new delivery process, including all related marketing and business-development activities.

A graduate of Pratt Institute with a degree in Industrial Design, Jim is a registered interior designer in the state of Connecticut and has been certified an Associate DBIA from the Design-Build Institute of America. He has received design awards from The Industrial Designers Society of America, SM Hexter Co. for the Interior of the Year in 1979, and an Emmy for the design of the CBS News set (1985-1986) from the National Academy of Television and Arts and Sciences. He has presented numerous times for ACC/AAAE Airport Planning, Design and Construction conferences and has written articles for Passenger Terminal World, Hospitality Magazine, and the New England Real Estate Journal.

Maurice Curran
VP of Corporate Safety and Jetworks Division

Maurice “Maurie” Curran serves as Vice President, responsible for VRH Corporate Safety and the VRHJetworks division for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Syracuse University, Maurie received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1983. In 1985, he joined VRH as Project Manager and rose to the position of Vice President, the position he currently holds.

VRHJetworks, established in 2015, provides aviation clients with comprehensive construction solutions for passenger boarding bridge solutions. The company’s corporate safety program, VRHVigilant, ensures that every VRH project team is aware of its surroundings and safely executes its work.

Under his leadership, he and the VRHJetworks team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including jetbridge installation, maintenance and refurbishment, and terminal modifications at airports throughout the New York region. Maurie and his team have forged a strong alliance and earned a well-respected reputation with The Port Authority of NY & NJ, American Airlines, JBT Aerotech Jetway Systems, Sheltair Aviation, and ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems.

As the Vice President of Corporate Safety, Maurie oversees Site Safety and Security Manager. Maurie and the Site Safety and Security Manager have established the importance of all VRH team members to be active participants in promoting the safety, security, and welfare of all involved in the project. Under Maurie’s leadership, he promotes the company-wide safety and security goal to have zero incidents on site.

Steve Haussel
Project Executive

Steve Haussel serves as Project Executive at the John F. Kennedy International (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) airport Field Offices for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of The State University of New York, Steve received a B.S. in Geology/Earth Science and went on to receive a diploma in Construction Management from New York University. Upon graduation in 1985, he began his career as a Field Inspector for Soll Mechanics Drilling Corporation and went on to become a Project Engineer and Project Manager for W.J. Barney Corporation, Construction Management from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, Steve joined VRH as a Project Engineer and rose to the positions of Project Manager and Project Executive, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for airport projects in the New York region, specifically at JFK, LGA, and Westchester County (HPN).

Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at JFK, LGA, and HPN. Steve and his team have forged a strong alliance and earned a well-respected reputation with The Port Authority of NY & NJ inspectors and risk management group, based on the team’s performance and construction expertise exercised in the expeditious completion of numerous projects valued in excess of $522 million.

Steve is a recipient of the “King of Queens County” award and was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America as a “Good Scout” at their 60th Annual Queens “Good Scout” Awards Luncheon. Along with his team, Steve’s efforts have been acknowledged by Airport Improvement magazine in featured articles in 2018 and 2019.

Magdy Allam
Project Executive

Magdy Allam serves as Project Executive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal Field Office for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Alexandria University, Egypt, Magdy received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Magdy began his career at Arab Contractors Company as Field Engineer 1985 to 1986, Office Engineer from 1986 to 1988, and Contractor Administrator from 1988 to 1989. In 1989, Magdy joined VRH as an Assistant Project Manager, rising to Project Manager and now Project Executive, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for projects in the New York region, specifically the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports and The Port Authority Bus Terminal. Magdy and his team have forged a strong alliance and earned a well-respected reputation with The Port Authority of NY & NJ inspectors and risk management group, based on the team’s performance and construction expertise exercised in the expeditious completion of numerous projects valued in excess of $1.5 billion.

Most notably, Magdy and his team are responsible for the $983 million Terminal 8 Development at Kennedy Airport for American Airlines. The decade-long project, punctuated by the 9/11 terrorist attack and onset of the great financial crisis was, nonetheless, finished on time, on budget, and without disruption or delay to a single flight.

Bill Gates, LEED AP, Assoc. DBIA
Project Executive

William “Bill” Gates serves as Project Executive at the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Field office for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Roanoke College, Bill received his degree in Business Management. Upon graduation, he began his career as an Assistant Construction Manager for The Hiller Group, where he worked from 1998 through 2005, and went on to become a Construction Manager for Hunt Construction Group, where he worked for 10 years. In 2015, Bill joined VRH as a Project Executive, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for projects at PHL. Additionally, he is the Port Authority of NY & NJ Liaison on the Consolidated Rental Car Facility project at Newark Liberty International Airport project, a joint venture between Austin Commercial and VRH Construction.

Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal modifications and renovations at PHL. Bill and his team have forged strong alliances and earned the respect of the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Good 2 Go for their performance and construction expertise exercised in the expeditious completion of projects valued in excess of $861 million.

Bill serves as a Board Member for the USGBC-NJ.

Eric Winkler
Project Executive

Eric Winkler serves as Project Executive at the Newark Liberty International Ariport (EWR) Field Office for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Methodist College, Eric received his degree in Computer Science. In 2001, Eric joined VRH as an Assistant Superintendent and rose to the position of Project Executive in 2018, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for projects at EWR.

Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at EWR. Based on their performance and construction expertise exercised in the expeditious completion of numerous projects valued in excess of $470 million, Eric and his team have forged a strong alliance and earned a well-respected reputation with The Port Authority of NY & NJ inspectors and risk management group. Eric has also formed strong relationships by successfully delivering projects on time and on budget for a multitude of clients, including United Airlines, Signature Flight Support, Delta Air Lines, South Jersey Transit Authority, and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
