    VRH was founded on October 23, 1958 by three young men – Victor Wortmann, his younger brother, Robert, and their younger cousin, Herbert. They could hardly have known what lay ahead.

    Through the ensuing six decades, VRH has been involved in virtually every facet of aviation-related development in the Northeast U.S. In addition to projects completed for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, we’ve performed work for 63 domestic and foreign carriers. And counting.

    Vic Wortmann, Jr.
    President and Chief Executive Officer

    Vic Wortmann, Jr. serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of the University of Vermont, Vic. received a B.S. in Engineering Management. Upon graduation in 1986, he joined VRH and began his career in the aviation construction industry as a Project Manager and became Vice President of the company nine years later. After a 22-year tenure at VRH, Vic became President & Chief Executive Officer in 2002, the position he currently holds.

    Under his leadership, he repositioned the firm as an Aviation Construction Specialist to focus on the Aviation Construction sector, which has been its core business for 61 years. He expanded the operations territory beyond the NY/NJ Metro area to include Philadelphia and the North East Regional Airport Markets. He identified, initiated, and implemented two new divisions: VRHJetworks and VRHRetailBuild, and responding to industry direction, introduced a new service at the firm, VRHDesignBuild. He is responsible for developing the company’s strategic vision, implementing new initiatives and developing a culture of employee engagement with an emphasis on providing clients with a satisfactory experience from project inception through closeout.

    Jeff Konen
    Chief Operating Officer

    Jeff Konen serves as Chief Operating Officer for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A 1984 graduate of Merrimack College, Jeff received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In 1984, he began his career as a Field Engineer and went on to work as a Project Manager and Senior Project Manager from 1986 to 1992. In 1995, Jeff joined VRH as a Project Manager and rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s Field Operations, ensuring the safe delivery of all projects throughout the organization, in addition to overseeing the company’s Technical Services Department.

    Under his leadership, he and his team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including terminal renovations and expansions at EWR, JFK, LGA, PHL, HPN, an SWF airports for a multitude of clients, including The Port Authority of NY & NJ.

    Frank Hurley, CCIFP
    Chief Financial Officer

    Frank Hurley serves as Chief Financial Officer for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Frank received a B.S. in Accounting, went on to receive his Executive Masters of Business Administration from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey. Upon graduation, Frank began his career as an Audit Senior and went on to work as a Controller, Assistant Controller, and rose to the position of Treasurer/Controller and later Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer.

    In 2003, Frank Joined VRH as Chief Financial Officer, the position he currently holds. He is responsible for the oversight of the controller and accounting operations, and development of new policies and procedures to ensure increased financial efficiencies. He is also engaged in the review and maintenance of insurance policies, health insurance, 401(k) profit sharing and investment programs, audits, and financial statement preparations. He manages all banking and bonding functions and relationships, and oversees the company’s HR department.

    James Silvester, Assoc. DBIA
    Director of Marketing and DesignBuild Services

    James “Jim” Silvester, Assoc. DBIA serves as the Director of Marketing and DesignBuild Services for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Pratt Institute with a degree in Industrial Design, Jim is a registered interior designer in the state of Connecticut and has been certified an Associate DBIA from the Design-Build Institute of America. As the Director of Marketing for VRH Construction since 2010, Jim Silvester is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the VRH brand and marketing strategies, public relations activities, and business development for the firm including VRHRetailBuild and VRHJetworks divisions.

    In 2018, Jim also became Director of DesignBuild Services applying 35+ years of design and construction experiences for more than 2 million square feet and $800 million in completed projects to developing this new delivery process, including all related marketing and business-development activities.

    Maurice Curran
    VP of Corporate Safety and Jetworks Division

    Maurice “Maurie” Curran serves as Vice President, responsible for VRH Corporate Safety and the VRHJetworks division for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. A graduate of Syracuse University, Maurie received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1983. In 1985, he joined VRH as Project Manager and rose to the position of Vice President, the position he currently holds.

    Under his leadership, he and the VRHJetworks team have established a longstanding and highly recognized reputation for successfully delivering challenging aviation construction projects, including jetbridge installation, maintenance and refurbishment, and terminal modifications at airports throughout the New York region. Maurie and his team have forged a strong alliance and earned a well-respected reputation with The Port Authority of NY & NJ, JBT Aerotech Jetway Systems, and ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems.

    As the Vice President of Corporate Safety, Maurie oversees the VRH Site Safety and Security Manager. Under Maurie’s leadership and that of the Site Safety and Security Manager, they actively promote the company-wide safety and security goal of zero incidents on all projects.

    Project Executive

    Steve Haussel serves as Project Executive at the JFK and LGA Airport Field Offices for VRH Construction. A graduate of The State University of New York, Steve received a B.S. in Geology/Earth Science and went on to receive a diploma in Construction Management from New York University. Upon graduation in 1985, he began his career as a Field Inspector and went on to become a Project Engineer and Project Manager from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, Steve joined VRH as a Project Engineer and rose to the positions of Project Manager and Project Executive, the position he currently holds.     Bill Gates, LEED AP, Assoc. DBIA
    Corporate Diversity & Sustainability Manager

    William “Bill” Gates serves as Corporate Diversity & Sustainability Manager for VRH Construction, headquartered in Englewood, NJ. Bill attended Roanoke College where he studied Business Management. After Roanoke, he began his career as an Assistant Construction Manager and went on to become a Construction Manager. In 2015, Bill joined VRH as a Project Executive and recently became the Corporate Diversity & Sustainability Manager, a new, pivotal role developed within the organization in April 2020.

    As Corporate Diversity & Sustainability Manager, Bill will continue VRH’s commitments to meeting the expectations of VRH clients and The Port Authority of NY & NJ. He is responsible for the management, coordination, and administration of the VRHDiversity Management Initiative and VRHSustainability Program. Under the VRHDiversity Management Initiative, Bill will ensure MBE’s/WBE’s/LBE’s have an equal opportunity to meaningfully participate in VRH projects. To ensure the goals and mission statement are met under the VRHSustainability Program, he will make certain a wholistic approach is taken to managing and operating the construction of airport projects to reduce environmental impact, promoting awareness through education and training while providing maximum value to our aviation clients.
